The story so far

 Hi, Freddie here, founder of The Bovey Tracey Chess Weekender! 

Growing up in Devon, chess played a big part in my life - helping me strategise, meet special friends and embrace the dynamism of a game that keeps on giving. It was thanks to the dedicated organisers in this part of the world that such regular opportunities were possible - a special thanks to Trefor Thynne, Tim Onions, Dave Regis & Victor Cross.

Since starting to spend more time in Devon again, I’ve once again had a fantastic time connecting with the Devon-wide chess community, as well as falling back in love with the stunning surroundings in Bovey Tracey where I spent my entire childhood.

This tournament is therefore a 'love letter' to Devon, to Bovey Tracey, and to the multi-generational community power of chess.
